Until we meet again

Images from our days in South Africa

We think Alex HowesAlex Howes said it best: “The dream has been delayed.”

He was talking about our departure from South Africa a few days before Cape Epic was slated to begin. The trip marked the first time in South Africa for our team, and we’re sure it won’t be the last.

From the moment we landed in Cape Town, we felt a warm welcome. Lachlan MortonLachlan Morton and Alex spent the first couple of days in South Africa getting reacquainted with their mountain bikes and exploring the many trails that surround the coastal city, and even dropping into a local race.

The scenery, the people, and the food, all come together to create a unique experience. As for the bike race, we’ll have to see about that another time; we can’t wait for the opportunity to come back.

Here’s a look back at our brief time in Cape Town, South Africa.

“Getting the chance to see a bit of South Africa was super cool.”

-Alex Howes

“We were still pretty nervous about the whole upcoming experience until we spent the day shredding the Jonkershoek trails. Something up there clicked, and we could tell the magic was there.”

-Alex Howes

“Alex and I were initially rusty on the mountain bikes. We were putting in sessions every day to work on our skills and set the bikes up. The progress we made in the short time on the dusty South African trails had us both super excited to race. The big positive is that when we finally get to tackle it, we know how to prepare and get the most from the experience. I can’t wait to toe the line in Cape Town in the future.”
