Dan McLay's Bio
Dan McLay steps up to the WorldTour with EF Education First–Drapac p/b Cannondale in 2018. Kiwi-born and British-bred, Dan began his U23 career in 2011 as a 19-year-old Dave Rayner-funded rider based out of Belgium riding for Lotto's development program. He took his first victory at the GP Stad Waregem, the U23 Dwars door Vlaanderen race, and snagged another five wins in the weeks that followed.
Dan’s talents slowly but steadily transferred to the elite ranks. In his Tour de France debut with Fortuneo–Oscaro in 2016, Dan sprinted into the top ten four times, including third place on stage six behind Mark Cavendish and Marcel Kittel. He earned another four top ten finishes at the 2017 Tour de France. The 25-year-old can easily be categorized as a sprinter but he’s also shown promise in the spring season. Dan’s ambitions for his first year in the WorldTour span the season.
