Brendan Canty's Bio
Brendan Canty had a late entry into cycling and a quick ascent to the top level of the sport. The Australian earned a spot in the WorldTour after only three seasons racing and had previously struggled to keep up with his mum during a Great Victorian Bike Ride event only a few years earlier. (Yes, you read that right.)
Brendan earned his Bachelor of Commerce at University of Melbourne and worked as a casual graduate with Pitcher Partners, a Melbourne-based accounting firm, as he progressed through the Australian amateur ranks, winning the first local amateur road race he entered in the Victorian Road Series, Stratford to Dargo, and earned his first continental contract with Team Budget Forklifts.
Drapac Cycling took note of Brendan’s results and extra-curriculars and determined he was the perfect fit for the program’s #wholeathlete model. Less than one year into his tenure with Drapac, Brendan won his first professional race in Europe, climbing to victory on the third stage of Tour of Austria. Brendan pulled on argyle in 2017 following his first full season with Drapac Cycling.
