"When you put like-minded people together, you can achieve really great things."
Jimmy Whelan enjoyed a rapid rise to the WorldTour. Running injuries forced the Australian to trade his sneakers for cycling shoes four years ago, in March 2016. It took only six months for the racing bug to bite.
One year after his first race, in January 2017, Jimmy had a professional contract with Drapac – EF, what was then the Professional Continental team linked to EF Pro Cycling. And during that first contract year, Jimmy traveled to Europe with the Australian National Team for a block of spring season racing. He won his first race. That race? The U23 Tour of Flanders. His swift progression earned him a three-year contract with EF Pro Cycling.
Jimmy holds an Urban and Regional Planning degree from RMIT University in Melbourne.
