Jimmy Whelan
"When you put like-minded people together, you can achieve really great things."
Jimmy Whelan enjoyed a rapid rise to the WorldTour. Running injuries forced the Australian to trade his sneakers for cycling shoes four years ago, in March 2016. It took only six months for the racing bug to bite.
One year after his first race, in January 2017, Jimmy had a professional contract with Drapac – EF, what was then the Professional Continental team linked to EF Education–NIPPO. And during that first contract year, Jimmy traveled to Europe with the Australian National Team for a block of spring season racing. He won his first race. That race? The U23 Tour of Flanders. His swift progression earned him a three-year contract with EF Education–NIPPO in 2019.
Jimmy holds an Urban and Regional Planning degree from RMIT University in Melbourne.

I have begun to appreciate Melbourne (my hometown) as one of the great cities to live in. I also love Barcelona. With all the new places I'll race this year, I am sure I will have a different answer by the end of the season.
Home! With all the time I spend away from home, I'm happy to spend any vacation time at home.
An urban planner. I'm in my final studies.
Do not plan too much! Leave time to explore spontaneously.
