“I really believe in what EF fosters. When I was 15, I traveled to Belgium to race cyclocross. That first trip to Europe at such an influential age really opened my eyes to the world beyond the US borders. I believe it is absolutely essential that we actively cultivate a knowledge and understanding of cultures beyond our own in order to be good global citizens.”

Alex has spent almost his entire career in argyle. Born in Golden, Colorado, Alex considers EF Education First his hometown team. In his spare time, you can find Alex roaming the American West, either in his old pickup truck or on his bike.

Q&A with Alex

What animal best describes you?

Coyote. It’s just who I am.

Favorite city?

If we’re talking about actual cities, I really like Barcelona. It’s a big city but still kind of down-to-earth with a lot of culture. And it’s just a fun place to be, to eat the tapas, drink the wine.

Travel must have?

Ear plugs.

Favorite school subject?

Science. I loved science and I still do. I try to apply the scientific method even if it’s a little flawed to every day life.

Earliest cycling memory?

The first moment I remember is probably one of my first moments on a bike. My dad was running behind me and said “I’m going to let go” and I said: “Don’t let go.” and he did, and I hit the trash cans. I remember it vividly still.
