Bike check: Madis Mihkels’ Estonian-champion-edition Cannondale LAB71 SuperSix EVO

Madis will debut his blue, white, and black race bike at the Vuelta a España

August 22, 2025

Cannondale delivered Madis Mihkels a LAB71 SuperSix EVO in blue, white, and black to match his Estonian champion’s jersey before the start of the Vuelta a España.

Madis won his national title in June and will roll out on his new race bike for stage 1 of the Vuelta in Torino. Wearing the sinimustvalge — the Estonian flag — on the world stage fills him with pride.

“Racing with the Estonian champion’s jersey is super cool,” Madis says. “It is a really beautiful jersey and this is a beautiful bike. I love the design and I feel proud to wear my national colors.”

Under the paint, Madis’ bike is the same superlight and aero machine that he rode to victory at his national championships and to great results like his third place at Brugge-De Panne this spring. The LAB71 SuperSix EVO is Cannondale’s supreme race bike with carbon tubes refined for aerodynamic speed and snappy handling.

Madis is gunning for the sprint stages at this Vuelta so every bit of top-end velocity will count at the finish lines.

He's chosen his Vision Metron 60 RS wheels for all-out aerodynamics on the fastest stages and will save his Vision Metron 45 RS set for the mountains. Handbuilt to exacting specifications in Vision’s workshop, both all-carbon Racing Series wheelsets feature a new PRS hub system with helical clutch for faster engagement and better power transfer.

Madis rides 30mm Vittoria Corsa Pro tubeless tires for their unmatched grip in the corners and incredibly low rolling resistance. Vittoria’s Air-Liners add cushioning in case of a puncture, so Madis can ride on until there is a chance for him to get a wheel change.

This year’s Vuelta is 3,151 kilometers long and will cross some of the most difficult terrain imaginable in modern bike racing. To stay comfortable on the road, Madis trusts Fizik’s Vento Argo R1 saddle. He wraps the bars of his SystemBar R-One carbon cockpit with Fizik Solocush tape for extra padding and control.

Madis can’t wait to throw his chain down the sprocket and sprint towards the finish, pushing all his power into his Wahoo SPEEDPLAY AERO pedals and FSA cranks. His aim is a stage win.

“I see five great opportunities for me to sprint. Those are my goals, those five stages,” he says.

How many watts will show up on the screen of his Wahoo ELEMNT BOLT? We’ll soon find out.
