    The penultimate stage of Tour of Guangxi was also the longest. The 212km route took the peloton from Liuzhou to Guilin where Matteo Trentin (Mitchelton-SCOTT) bested Pascal Ackermann (Bora-Hansgrohe) and Jasper Stuyven (Trek-Segafredo) in the crash-marred sprint.

Sky never allowed the move more than a five minute advantage on the bunch.

    A series of three climbs in the final 70 kilometres proved decisive.

    “At 150 kilometers we had a hard tricky part with two climbs and two dangerous descent,” noted Vanmarcke. “Rigo, Sep and Hugh made the front group, which was the group that sprinted for the victory.”
