The 18-year-old from Slidell, Louisiana, just made the jump from the EF Education-ONTO junior program to our EF Education-Aevolo development squad, with his heart set on becoming a WorldTour racer with EF Education-EasyPost.

The latest chapter of the “Explore” series, presented by Wahoo, follows Burckel’s journey from junior racer to EF Education-Aevolo recruit. With his family’s support, Burckel left the flatlands of Louisiana and his school friends behind to train in the mountains of South Carolina. He overcame broken bones and doubts to earn his spot. Before Burckel hurtles into the fastest, toughest under-23 races in cycling, we traveled home with him to meet his family and see what it takes to chase a dream.

Tenacity, resilience, and a determined belief that “I can do that” drive Burckel.
