Lachlan Morton partners up with World Bicycle Relief
Far Beyond is raising money for Lachy’s favorite charity
September 18, 2025
Lachlan Morton is on a mission to raise funds for World Bicycle Relief.
On his journey east on the Great North American Road Trip, Lachlan stopped by the WBR offices in Chicago to take a look at the new Buffalo Utility S2, the latest evolution of World Bicycle Relief’s purpose-built bike. The S2 introduces a simple but game-changing upgrade: a two-chain drivetrain that adds a second gear, making it much easier to haul cargo, deliver medicine, or ride to school in hilly areas. Lachlan met with the engineers behind the design and took it for a quick spin on the test track inside WBR’s offices.
During the AltTour, Lachlan’s 2021 expedition to ride all of the stages of the Tour de France plus the transfers solo and beat the peloton to Paris, he raised over $750,000 for the organization. He traveled to Colombia and saw firsthand how rugged, simple Buffalo Bikes can change the lives of women and girls who live in underserved rural communities. Bikes let them ride further afield to get to school, work, hospitals, shops, or wherever they need to go.
“World Bicycle Relief is a really great organization,” Lachlan says. “They're the real deal. They do a lot of amazing work. We first worked with them for the AltTour. Now, I want to try and raise money to help support them again. A lot of organizations like World Bicycle Relief are struggling at the moment with changes in government funding, so hopefully people can get behind this and we will raise money for what is a really, really well-run organization.”

Every dollar you send will help empower people around the world with life-changing bicycles. Just $165 will put a Buffalo Bicycle in the hands of someone living in remote, rural communities, so they can ride a sturdy, durable machine to access education, markets, health facilities and vital services – and have fun on the way.
Every cyclist knows that bikes are liberating, but we don’t always appreciate just how empowering a reliable bicycle can be for someone whose only alternative is to walk. Over the past 20 years, World Bicycle Relief has delivered 906,000 bikes to people around the world and changed their lives by unlocking new possibilities for their futures.
Join Lachlan and World Bicycle Relief, and let’s keep pushing to make that one million bikes.
